...thursday, april 5, 2012...day 297...

We had Ava over to play a couple of days this week, and oh my, what fun these two have together.

This morning, they climbed up on the rocking chair together and made faces at each other for like 10 minutes.

So cute I could just eat them up!!!

...wednesday, april 4, 2012...day 296...

Being a homemaker comes with certain dangers.  With Sam and Nate gone from the house most days, I'm left to fend for myself and my child against any predictors that may be lurking in dark corners of my home.  Such an incident happened this morning when I opened my washing machine (after it had just completed a cycle) to discover what I thought was a little man hiding in the sheets.

Turns out it was just...

How it got in there, I have no idea, but Luke was very pleased to find out that his balloon survived the spin cycle.

And we all live to see another day ... (including the balloon).

"See House!"

...monday, april 2, 2012...day 294...

David and Sarah were in Grand Rapids today looking at houses.  After praying with them that they would find the right house, Luke became very concerned on their behalf. "See house, see house!" he kept saying to me all day long, and he was very disappointed when our morning walk took us to the grocery store, instead of to see a prospective house.

His dream came true that very afternoon, when we drove out with D&A to tour a house that they ended up putting an offer on. Yay!

By the way, I definitely do NOT recommend taking a toddler to a house showing.  It's a bit of a headache if you know what I mean.  But, this child could not be denied... sigh.

...sunday, april 1, 2012...day 293...

Every day Luke asks me about each of his cousins.  It's hard for him to understand why we can't just hop in the car and go see them any time we want. Thankfully, they're not too far away that we can't get together for an afternoon.  We spent this afternoon with the Haigs (and other family) and Luke was thrilled to be able to tag along with "Jon Michael", as he calls them.

...saturday, march 31, 2012...day 292...

Rachel and I planned an outing this morning to see the butterflies at Frederik Meijer Gardens.  When Luke woke up, I shared the news with him in Spanish to see if he could understand me. It was pretty cute to watch him try to remember the word in English.

Me: Luke! Hoy vamos a ver las mariposas.

Luke: Flies? Flies? Flies?

Me: That's right, fly. Las mariposas fly.

Luke: (looking determined): No! Flies... flies... (dawning realization) butterflies!

...friday, march 30, 2012...day 291...

Ava is hanging out with us today, and the weather outside has turned pretty nasty. Time for a new rainy day activity.  Bring on the rice pans! They're a hit!  Ava got bored after 10 minutes, but Luke is a half hour into this activity and still going strong.

...thursday, march 29, 2012...day 290...

Luke was helping Sam reinstall the drain pipe for the dishwasher this evening. Or maybe he was just learning how to use a screwdriver.  Or maybe he was just learning to say the word "screwdriver".  Anyway it was pretty cute.
