The Whine

...friday, december 16, 2011...day 187...

Luke has mastered a highly annoying yet surprisingly effective mode of operation called The Whine.  My chosen counter-attack is The Ignore.  Here is the video evidence that it worked this morning when he wanted me to let him play with my camera.

...thursday, december 15, 2011...day 186...

We were so excited to see Rebekah yesterday who just came home from her semester abroad.  Luke warmed up to her very quickly and soon started pleading for "Bekah" every time she left the room.  He even cried when she left our house. I don't think she minded the attention.

You saw the shirt in yesterday's post, but here is a professional picture of Luke in his famous tee.

New Uses for Old Things

You might think that kitchen tongs are only good for turning hot meat on the stove, but think again.  They make excellent toys for toddler boys.  Picking up small objects with the tongs, as well as whacking your friend in the head, are apparently very enjoyable activities.  Take it from these two.

Jingle Bells, Luke Style

...monday, december 12, 2011...day 183...

My family had a tradition of gathering around the Christmas tree during Advent to sing Christmas songs together.  Sam and I have started doing this in the evenings with Luke.  Luke gets really into it and continues singing to his own tune long after we have finished.  Last night I pulled out the camera and started videoing after we had just finished "Jingle Bells".  Apparently this is Luke's rendition.

Eating in the Dark

...sunday, december 11, 2011...day 182...

For some reason, Luke thinks its fun to close his eyes while he's eating dinner.  He does this almost every night and finishes the second half of his meal in the dark.

Maybe the food tastes better that way?

Here are my two boys today on their way out to shop for Christmas presents for Mommy. :)

Christmas Card Display

...friday, december 9, 2011...day 180...

We get so many lovely Christmas cards every year that I decided this year that I had to find a creative way to display them. I felt inspired by the picture above of a tree display, and decided to create a cheap and kid-proof branch display.

As the branch came from our back yard and the ribbons came from our basement, this display cost us nothing. It's looking a little sparse right now but I'm sure it will fill up fast!

Crayons

Luke is finally getting into coloring with crayons instead of eating them.  However his preferred hold is as shown with the blue crayon in the picture, which I must say is not very effective for coloring.

...wednesday, december 7, 2011...day 178...

Luke has loved hanging out with Logan so often these past few months as Mindie has been on maternity leave.  Along with asking for Ian and Ava, he now asks for Logan every day too, who, for some reason, he calls "Eegoo".

These three buds had such a blast at Java Gym today. :)  We'll miss you next week, Eegoo!
