Happy Birthday, Ezra!
...august 13, 2011...day 60...
We had a great time celebrating with Luke's adorable 2nd cousin, Ezra, on his first birthday. These two had a blast hanging out in Ez's wagon.

Luke and I spent a fabulous day today with two of my best friends, who live too far away to do this more often :( Luke had a blast playing with all of the toys (and people) at the Ketts' house:
You can't tell that we're being eaten alive by the crazy Ann Arbor mosquitoes in this picture:
I love you girls!

When I was scheduling a long-time-no-see date with my friend Krista, she said, "Have you heard about Java Gym?" We checked it out today and this place is AWESOME. Play gym for the kids. Java for the moms. When a worker walked up and said, "Hi, can I hold your baby for you?" I was practically drooling. I did not have to worry about Luke at all as he climbed through the gigantic maze. AND it only cost me $3. I am hooked!
Hanging out with Eli and Evie:
Why did Elijah remind me of Luke at that age? Probably because he was adorable and super high energy and kept trying to escape and crawl to freedom. :) Look at these friends:

Luke was given this adorable sun hat as a hand-me-down from friends.
The sad thing is that he won't leave it on for more than 5 seconds, so its no use at the beach.

Today Matthew was wearing his First Phillies T-Shirt. And he was obsessed with this baseball toy all day.
Coincidence? I think not.

step 1. Teach Luke to sit patiently on the potty without screaming. We now know that the trick is to (a) never force him to sit on it and (b) tell him, "Do you want your blankie? Okay, you sit there, I'll go get it!" and then leave the room. Using this (albeit deceitful) method, he has peed in the potty every single time, and never asked for his blankie afterword.
step 2. Luke learns to tell us when he has to go, before he goes in his trainers. For the past week, he's been communicating this about twice a day. Between that and us putting him on regularly, we've had almost no pee accidents. #2 is a another story, though... until today. Today for the very first time ladies and gentlemen, Luke told me that he had to go potty and did his business before making any mess in his trainers!!!
It was a bit traumatic at the time, but afterword, with lots of praise from Mommy, and accepting the exciting privilege of flushing the toilet by himself, Luke decided that he had done a very good job.

Luke's First Landscaping Project
...august 6, 2011...day 53...
This being our first full weekend home in about two months, Luke and I finally got a chance to get outside and try to tame the mayhem of our backyard. Luke was thrilled to help spread mulch. Didn't he do a great job?
Luke wanted to help with the electric hedge trimmer too, but his mean mommy wouldn't let him. :(
Visit with Grandma Great
...august 5, 2011...day 52...
We had a lovely visit today with Grandma Great. It was wonderful to catch up with my grandmother, and Luke loved exploring her sunny patio, always with a homemade cookie in hand :)
