We have FORWARD motion!!

At Grandpa's house. Everything exciting seems to happen at Grandpa's house.  Luke's first tooth? Grandpa's house.  Luke's first hair styling session (pictures coming soon)? Grandpa's house.  And after weeks and weeks of Mom and Dad begging him to try, Luke decided to finally crawl forward at Grandpa's house.  Okay, "crawl" is a bit optimistic; it's more of a lunge and pull.  And currently he's moving at the speed of molasses.  But still!

Maybe it's the influence of his two younger cousins crawling circles around him. Maybe its the relentless patience of uncles of aunts when his parents have long given up.  Whatever the reason, Luke is finally, finally, moving forward.

Luke's first trip to the wine country was a wonderful week of fun.  My dear friend Angela gave birth to Emma two months ago, creating a perfect excuse for Luke and I to take a vacation.  Luke had a great time...

touring Napa in the stroller

breaking in Emma's (very girly) high chair

catching naps during long car rides

and cheering on U of M football with Emma. GO BLUE!!

Was that a wave?

Today as I waved goodbye to a friend, Luke looked at me and did the most unusual thing. His hand went limp, and he waved his arm around, as if his wrist was broken. At first I thought maybe there was a problem with his arm, until I realized, no wait, I think he's actually WAVING!

What a brilliant babe.

The Salvation Army has built a brand new community center 1/2 a mile down the road from us called the Ray & Joan Kroc Center. We are beyond thrilled, as this new facility has it all: pool, climbing wall, machines, weights, a track, gym, volleyball courts, outdoor water park, playground, and most importantly, a daycare!  And its reduced cost made it a no-brainer for us.  So we signed up the day it opened, and have been enjoying the facilities a couple of times a week.

Taking Luke to the pool has been really fun.  Luke's too young to appreciate the kids' fort or the giant water slide, so right now its just like one big bathtub for him.  But he loves to splash and dive forward and swallow as much water as he can (we're working on that one).

We love the Kroc!

Happy Halloween

Luke got to celebrate his first Halloween trick-or-treating with all of his cousins.  Sam and I were glad for the excuse to get to go door to door asking for candy, since it probably wouldn't look right if just the two of us walked around with a baby (not that it isn't done).  We had a great time hanging out with all of the little animals and Spiderman.  Maybe next year, Son, you can actually eat some of the goodies.

We miss you, Mom

October 29th was the first anniversary of my mother's death.  We decided to remember it together as a family, and had a nice weekend together at my dad's house.  We are still filled with grief and extremely devastated that Luke will never know his Grandma DeJong, who was so excited to meet him and his younger cousins.  It makes us even more thankful for all of the time Luke gets to spend with Grandpa DJ, and for the many visits with his cousins.  Life seems so different now when the family gets together, not the least because the three little ones are becoming more mobile with every passing week (watch out Christmas tree!)  Luke absolutely loves getting together with everyone - so many kids to steal toys from, so many people to watch!

Thank you everyone for your continued love & prayers, and thank you family for a great weekend.

The Williamson clan is now spanning 4 generations.  When Luke was born in February, he was the only great-grandchild, but little Ezra Robert-John Smith came along just 6 months later.  The two boys got to meet each other for the first time at our last family get-together in October.  So now the peaceful Williamson family devotional times will have to put up with disturbances of screams or toots of gas coming from the corner of the room (at least we think that was the babies), but nobody seems to mind.
